The Lost Domain feat. Lukas StJames
Biography
The Lost Domain is the latest musical project from longtime musician, composer, and producer Laurent Cleenewerck de Kiev, created in collaboration with a close circle of trusted colleagues.
The Name
The name The Lost Domain is directly inspired by the classic 1913 French novel Le Grand Meaulnes (known in English as The Lost Domain or The Wanderer). The book tells a story of lost youth, elusive magic, unreachable dreams, and the haunting search for a mysterious domain that once glimpsed can never be fully recovered. For Laurent and the team, this title perfectly captures the bittersweet feeling of chasing something beautiful and ephemeral — whether it’s a perfect melody, a moment of pure emotion, or an idealized world that exists just out of reach.
The Concept
At the heart of The Lost Domain is Lukas StJames — a half-real, half-virtual artist. Inspired by a real-life musician who preferred to remain behind the scenes rather than in the spotlight, Lukas exists as both a tangible creative voice and a carefully crafted artistic persona. This hybrid nature allows the project to explore themes of identity, memory, and longing with a unique sense of freedom.
Musically, The Lost Domain deliberately steps away from the more experimental, cinematic, or introspective sounds of Laurent’s other projects (The Cure Is Us, Faith and Doubt Project, Laurent de Kiev, and Paris has Fallen). Instead, it fully embraces uplifting, infectious pop — described affectionately as “music for skiing”: joyful, energetic, and designed to feel like sunshine on fresh snow, perfect for mountain roads, alpine drives, or simply lifting the spirit.
What sets The Lost Domain apart is its commitment to two things:
- Truly infectious, hook-driven melodies that stay with you long after the song ends.
- Meaningful, poetic lyrics that add emotional depth beneath the bright, accessible surface.
A core philosophy of the project is giving each standout song multiple lives. Hit singles are released in several distinct versions — main pop mix, acoustic, piano ballad, Britpop-inspired, and more — allowing listeners to experience the same song through different emotional lenses.
First Release
The Lost Domain makes its debut in May 2026 with the single “Breaking Point” — a powerful, anthemic pop track about reaching the edge and choosing to begin again. True to the project’s vision, “Breaking Point” will be available across multiple mixes from day one.
With The Lost Domain, Laurent Cleenewerck de Kiev and his collaborators invite listeners into their own shimmering, elusive world — one where pop can be both joyful and profound, where melodies heal and lyrics linger. Welcome to The Lost Domain.
